Get Personalized Treatment from a Manhattan Sports Therapist
Flexion-distraction therapy is an effective chiropractic treatment that can be integrated with other soft tissue and joint therapies.
Used in many of Dr. Miro’s patient treatment plans, flexion distraction helps address pain symptoms resulting from:
- Herniated Disc
- Bulging Disc
- Slipped Disc
- Ruptured Disc
- Facet Syndrome
- Sciatica
- Stenosis
- Spondylolisthesis
Using flexion distraction at Manhattan Sports Therapy, Dr. Miro gently and safely integrates targeted hands-on therapy while the patient rests comfortably on a uniquely designed treatment table. Dr. Miro recommends this conservative and widely regarded decompression rehab process to relieve spinal pain, neck and back pain, arm pain, and leg pain.
How Do Flexion Distraction & Decompression Work?
During treatment, Dr. Miro relaxes the patient in a neutral, face down position on the flexion distraction table. A uniquely designed portion of the table is unlocked to allow for gentle, isolated, and controlled pressure to be applied to the areas the patient has pain in.
The process can be used to help:
- Reduce intradiscal pressure on spinal nerves
- Restore joint mobility
- Widen the spinal foraminal canal to address radicular pain of the lower extremities
- Realign the spine and joints
